| Nice job. I like the little pebble arch with the Java Moss.
I do have to say though that the marine/coral background does look a little odd.
All up though, very nice. |

It came with the tank. Because the tank is in a corner with windows on both sides, I'm leaving it on until I can get my hands on some black background/wrapping paper. It looks better than an algae outbreak! |

| Looks very nice, did you just hot glue the rocks together for the arch? I was considering something like that, but was unsure of what kind of glue to use so it would be safe in the tank. |

| Hi tengallonhat,
It's actually a bit of a 'tunnel', rather than an arch, but hard to see from the photo angles.
I used glass silicone, specifically labelled 'aquarium safe'. I found that you had to use quite a bit more than expected to adhere to the rocks, otherwise the silicone didn't support the weight of the structure.
Nutter - I changed the background on the weekend to black contact! Looks much better... |

I just got a new phone, so I will try it out tonight on the honey gouramis (until I can find that you-know-what of a digital camera battery charger!!!) Quote:

As stated above, I am waiting on some live plants to arrive, and will also swap out the natural river gravel to black gravel (keeping the meandering river bed in the centre!). It's all so exciting! The only problem is having to do it piecemeal, so I can afford all the bits and pieces... |

| Thanks for the hint Bubblynutter, I'll have to look for some glass silicone then. I hand selected some nice granite and quartz stones from the plantings at work, scrubbed them each by hand really well, rinsed, rinsed and rinsed some more, then soaked them in vinegar water to remove any left over soap, rinsed again and again, and then boiled them for 20 minutes -- should be aquarium safe and lots cheaper then buying aquarium river stones (6-8 stones for $2.79 at Walmart no less! I like the combination of natural gravel and stones. Eventually I hope to replace my plastic plants with real ones. But like you, and a lot of other people - my little 10 gallon tank is a work in progress |
