| My Celestial Pearl Danios and Gourami I've had them for about a week.
The Celestial Pearls, just the cutest little things. If they weren't so expensive, I'd have a tank full.
Except for one loss the first night, they're doing great.
Seriously, couldn't anyone think of a cuter name than Thick Lipped Gourami (Colisa labiosa) lol |

| Great pics, Lucy! Those CPD's are going to end up on my future fish list, I'm sure. They are cute little suckers.
Is the gourami a honey gourami? |

Is the gourami a honey gourami? | Thanks BB. Put them on your list!! lol
It's a Thick Lipped (Colisa labiosa) . He looks similar to a Honey (Colisa chuna). There are other color variations.
He should get bigger than a Honey (4") and supposed to be hardier. |

Plus, they're not a full size Gouamri.
From what I read they're supposed to be less agressive than Dwarfs.
The Pearls are small, the Gourami hasn't given them a second look. Not even any darting at them. Putting that on your list too?
He's really cute and friendly. lol |

He's got plenty of room since the cpd's are so small.
I know you like Gouramis and was going to suggest you look into this species. |

| Not so local, it's about an hour from me.
I'm pretty rural, so there's not much close.
They have more of a selection than the box stores or another fish store thats a little closer. Cleaner and more knowledgeable also. |

| Hello Lucy,
Beautiful fish! I don't think I've ever seen CPD's before. Thanks for sharing the photos. I know you're having a good time with all the newbies.

| No, I didn't oder them. We were in the area for an event one evening and I saw they had a couple.
Went back a couple of days later and picked them up.
lol, It's a longer story, but that's the gist of it.
Ask your LFS if they can order them. Be sure to use the scientic name so you know what you're getting (hopefully). |

Ken | Thanks Ken. They're failr new to the trade. Someone mentioned them on the forum. I did a search and read up about them.
I was pretty excited to actually see them at the store.
Emily, it helped that I knew exactly what Gourami I wanted and had the proper home for. After losing two DG's, I knew to stay away from them |

| Yeah great pictures Lucy. The CPDs are something esle arent they? You know whats funny is that I have seen them before and I have also seen them called Glaxay Rosboras as well as CPDs thats funny how people have them as different things. |

| Are there any specific care requirements they have? The Dwarf Gourami disease makes things rather difficult. |

I've seen them called both also, if you saw my first thread about them, I refered to them by both names. lol
From what I read, and I could be wrong, the name was changed from galaxys to cpd's.
But, yeah, they are something! Quote: |

Have you seen Sparkling Gourami's? They're small, 1.5 inches. Not as colorful but a darling little fish, but shy. You can keep them in groups. Although mine got aggressive after spawning. (same with many fish, though)
Oh, and they don't get DGD either. |

| Do they prefer to be in groups? I'm thinking maybe a 29 gallon instead of a 20 (I don't know if you saw my thread) and I'm pretty excited. |

I've read that they can be kept together, but I don't know for sure. Personally, I didn't chance getting 2.
I bought three Sparklers, had to remove one and a guppy when they spawned because they got aggressive.
They'll chase my tetras when spawning but not as relentless as the other SG and guppy were harassed.
My theory is I got 2 males and a female, but I can't sex them.
Perhaps a larger group would have worked better.
On a side note, the guppy and SG are best of friends in a different tank. lol |

I really am in love with your gourami. He's got this cute little face that inspires me to want to sit in front of him and make fish faces at him. |

Yeah, we do that a lot around here.
My husband likes to waggle his finger at him and say "Hey There Gourami Dude". |

| Emily-- I have seen thick-lips at the LFS, so I know at the very least they can special order them. I may have seen the CPD's too, but not 100% sure. Last edited by rae64; February 27th, 2010 at 10:43 PM.

| Nice! Those are pretty fish. I might have to get some of those.
When I get my 125 gallon tank I wanted to use my 20 g for either a beta, some cichlids or a couple of gouramis.
Your gourami is cute, I'm having a very tough time deciding. |

It is hard deciding especially when the fish you mention aren't compatable. That's how we end up with so many tanks. lol |

I thought about getting some of these before, and your pics just reminded me of them again! My fish shopping list just gets longer and longer... |

Sometimes they get together swim against the current. My husband says it reminds him of salmon. lol
To get a better effect of their beauty, I'd suggest more than 6, if you have room (and $ lol). |
