14"-16" so a big tank is required. best of luck with your venture into
the world of cichlids, they are wonderful fish to keep. |

| Yeah, nice pics, btw. Your camera must be a lot better than mine...lousy waste of 1000 bucks...
Anyway, those are some pretty fish. I am saving up for a 125 gallon, but when I get it I would have to move my mollies and platies over, and idk how well the cichlids would get along with their food before eating them, so I might have some problems there.
Thx for the info. Last edited by Butterfly; February 27th, 2010 at 04:06 AM.

| Just remember Ben that with cichlids, if it fits in their mouth most of them
will eat it, so you are doing the right thing to research the cichlids before
adding your mollies and platies.
What kind of camera do you have btw? $1000 should have got you
a nice bit of kit.
Thanks for all the kind comments folks, they are much appreciated, |

| I have a Sony Handycam. It's a great camera, but just doesn't take as good of pictures as yours. Idk the exact model, but pictures are worth a thousand words, so here! camera.jpg
I still want to try he cichlids...do you think I could keep one in a 20 gallon tank? Just one? |

| Ah I see what you mean now Ben, it's more for taking movies than
shooting pics I think, awesome looking bit of kit all the same.
Regarding cichlids, you could try a pair of dwarf cichlids Apistos) or some
multies (shell dwellers) in your 20g. they are small but very interesting
and beautiful little fish.
Cheers Mike. |

| Thanks, Mike. My brother's name is Mike...and yeah. We got it to record me and my brother's football and baseball games, not just for pictures.
I might try the dwarf cichlids, I actually already have one cichlid. It's a baby african zebra mouthbrooder or something like that. My friend got it a week ago, and it's just hanging out in my tank until his tank is set up. She is kinda' mean to the Mollies. but she doesn't hurt them.
They are facinating fish, I would really enjoy taking care of a tank full of them! DSC01083.JPG
How's the weather in Ireland, btw? My grandparents were thinking about going there for vacation some time this summer. |

| Thats a pretty juvie Ben but chances are it is gonna terrorise
you platies and mollies when it gets a bit bigger, i'm not sure
on the id of the fish but mbuna can be mean and aggressive.
Your grand parents will love Ireland if they don't mind a bit of rain
but the scenery and the people make up for a bit of precipitation. lol
Thanks for the kind words ladies, much appreciated! |

| Lol, we are from Florida, it rains almost every day here. But thx for the complement, and I'll take the fish's size to note. My friend should have his tank set up very soon, however. It should not cause too much of a problem as the fish is still too small to cause any real havoc. |
