I'll have to post some updated pics. She started the tank in January. We instant cycled the tank with media and gravel from another tank. Added a platy... checked the water daily and had no problem with the cycle...it seems like it really did cycle instantly. After a little over two weeks we added a guppy. Now it has another platy and three x ray tetras as well.
She is thinking about adding a few more tetras to the mix... possibly getting some shrimp... and maybe some otos once the tank matures some more. Don't really know if there will be much room after all that. We will have to see how it goes.

After we get an electrician out to check the outlets in the girls room we will be moving the tank into their room and the microwave niche will be empty again.... hmmmm...Just in time for MTS to set in. I'm thinking a 10-15 gallon heavily planted with small fish and shrimp...hmmmmmm

You know what I did with an old microwave stand? You got, it's now in my living room with a tank on it.
I know my husband would put his foot down to tanks on the counter. lol
The low boy in the dining area is a different story.

Wow looks very turbulent, I hope the fish have a chance to eat before all the food ends up in the gravel, otherwise you may get some algae problems. Maybe try and keep the tank a little more full so the filter doesn't splash as much, or take out the air pump.

Otherwise the tank looks really nice. Maybe let your daughter make a background for it.
