| What do you think? This is my 29 gal i transferred some of the Artificial Plants from the tank i had before but now i think it looks a bit empty in the center and the right side, i was thinking of adding some taller AP like the one i have on the right side in front, behind the log. I was hoping to get some advice on some AP that maybe you guys have seen and/or use.
Thanks again. Robert. |

| Welcome to FishLore!
I use a black plastic garbage bag taped to the baco of a couple of my tanks. Does'nt look half bad
Something that would move with the water would look nice in your tank. Our petsmart has a large selection of AP. If you buy silk plants make sure they don't have any wires in them. The wires can rust and stick out of the plant and stick your fish.

| Our petsmart has lots of fake plants too! You can buy posterboard in LOTS of colors at pretty much any craft or office supply store. I currently have a dark blue on my tank, and it really accents my fish. My white mollies have tints of blue in their tails, and it really brings out those colors. Darks typically look best, but I think colors should be picked based on the fish you keep. Maybe for your tank a deep wine-ish red or deep autumn orange? It would certainly accent your serpaes nicely, and your mollies should not be too hard to see. Not as hard as black at least! It is all up to you, some people like more bright colored backgrounds, while others like just plain black. |

| I thought that using a red background for red serpaes would make the disappear (camouflage)? |

| Well, it depends on the red. If it is a really dark red, like the color of red wine (or darker) It will probable accent their colors. A brighter red, though, would probably make them vanish. When I say dark red, I mean almost black with a slight reddish tint.
Another good color may be a brightish dark blue? Like the color of the bars on fishlore that say My threads and My posts?
Keep in mind that, at least in my tank, the background looks darker through all the water and glass, and away from the light. I have a royal blue on my tank and it looks navy. Last edited by rae64; February 14th, 2010 at 03:58 PM.

| Your tank looks good. I would add more plants or half a hollow log to hide the heater in & definitley add a black or blue background. There's also no reason why your background has to be all one color. You might want to paint a scenery onto it or use that sticky plastic book covering stuff to make some wierd patterns in different colours. There's nothing wrong with the good old roll of printed backing either. Any background is better than no background. Having some kind of background will make the fish feel more secure & show better colours. The tank in my sig has a black background. |

| I used to have the same fake plant as Jaysee on the right side of the tank in the second vid. I got mine at Petsmart and the brand was Fancy Plants. Hope that helps! |

| Great job Rob.
Thanks for sharing the photos.
I believe the plant you are referring to in JaySee's video is fake Bamboo. I've had them in the past. I believe they are 36" plants and you can cut them to fit your tank if necessary.
