As long as there is nothing going on in either fish tank you wouldn't want transfered(like disease) and the water parameters are the same wouldn't think it would hurt to do it once or twice. but this is not something you would want to do often as it would probable up set your pleco.
as for how many you can have in a 40 G that depends on what kind you get.
The common Pleco can out grow a 40 G in a matter of months and are horrible waste producers. Bristle nose get about 5 inches and 1 or 2 in the 40 G would keep it good and clean. They have lots of personality also.

That's a very original tank! It shows that not every tank has to look the same. We can actually give the tank a specific theme, for example "tigers". Which is very cool

hi , the fish i have are comets for now 2 cory catfish and a pleco {recently lost him}
