That's good but ammonia with goldfish and Koi is an on going thing that will have to be continually checked. Another thing I wanted to mention is that they are cold water fish and don't need heaters. If you do get a 75gal. for them and it's just the goldies don't put a heater in it. They really prefere to have it cool. My own in the pond are starting to go into the hibernation mode. Staying at the bottom more and eating less. Both the regular goldfish, fancies, and the koi.

BB, if you feel later on that the goldies are crowded, you could put them in different tanks ( as in you have plenty others LOL) or you could upgrade them to a 75g if you want to

I run weekly "full parameter" tests on all of my tanks. pH, Ammonia, Trites, and Trates, that also lets me know that PH is staying steady and nothing goofy is going on in the tank. I do daily's on anything that I feel could possibly go into a mini-cycle until I feel it's safe. If anything goes wonky, I'll catch in on the weekly. It also enables me to keep an eye on things long term. I have a log of each of my tanks from start to the weekly tests. It takes a lot of time, but I feel it's important for me to know what's going on with each of my tanks at all times

Yep, paranoid fishkeeper I am, but those weekly tests warned me there was a problem with one of my betta tanks.

Tony-I was thinking about that. Maybe that 45 would be a good place for two of them if I start getting worried about them having enough space later on. Great minds think alike I'm thinking they'll be fine, but a back-up plan is ALWAYS a good thing
