| My Store Tank My son has opened a Hobby Store which I financed for him. In exchange for that he let me have a corner of the store to sell my fish in. We happened across this tank set up on a saltwater fish forum that he belongs to. A guy was selling it on there. It's about 9" tall.( I have to get on a ladder to work in the top 3 tanks LOL) Weighs a ton. It has 9 tanks that are 20 gals.each. It is all one unit. One sump filtration unit that filters all 9 tanks at once. It came with all the piping for the filtration. I didn't have to buy anything for it except a pump for the sump and a heater. This is the amazing part. All this for only $100.00!!! Thougt you would like to see it. Oh and yes there are fish in it just can't see them in this photo.
Back to show the piping that it was set up with.
It used to be a set up for saltwater live rocks. Spent a full day scrubbing and rinsing salt out of it before putting it togther for freshwater. Last edited by whisper; September 24th, 2009 at 07:33 PM.

| LOL thanks everyone. It is so much fun. Besides taking care of that one I also have about 10 tanks at home so it's none stop fish care from morning til night but I love it. I also always dreamed of having a fish store. I'm retired and live with my son and family so we're in this business together. He sells hobby things and I have the fish. I breed different platy's, guppies, tiger barbs, betta's, Mollies, and just got Red cherry shrimp I'm going to try and Albino bristlenose plecos. Just put a tank together for my pair of Bloodfin Tetras. Here's a picture of 2 month old tiger barbs. |

When they get a little bigger I'm going to get them bigger ones. I have about 30 of them at the store and so I'm limited for space but not to worry they will get bigger homes as they grow. Right now they are only 5 months old so not fully grown.
Oh also my son is also into fish. He has a 40 gal. saltwater tank at home and he's the one that dug the outdoor pond(by hand) for the koi and goldfish. |

| its not the size that concerns me as much as no filters or heater ..although the size is better than some we see.... fin damage can come so quick as well as stress...I have no doubt you care about your fish and again, to each their own but the bettas in situations like that, just leads others to believe they can always be ok in cups especially if a breeder keeps them that way ..just my opinion tho and im sure others have different ones I still wish you and your son good luck! |

| Pretty cool that your son has dedicated a spot in the store for you.
Best of luck to you both with it.
I'm with Shawnie on the cup babies.
I can tell by your posts that you care about fish.
In all honesty, I've walked out of stores that have cups babies. I just can't bear to see them in such cramped quarters.
With all due respect it's like keeping a puppies in shoe boxes. |

| I've looking for a unit like that at a reasonable price for around 4 months. That was an awesome price and looks super great. Good Luck. |

| I'm not defending cup babies what so ever and I'm not trying to put anyone on the spot but I'm just curious don't all breeders have betta's in unfiltered unheated containers once they are to aggressive to stay in a grow out tank??. I've heard of people keeping their inside temp in the house so it's comfortable for the betta's and doing daily w/c. |

I imagine most breeders keep them in small containers considering how many fry come from one spawning. |

| +2 on the breeders. Most do keep them in cups and do daily wc's. You could also get a custom tank, with a filtration and heating sistem, while the tank is divided into like 20 or 30 sections... just a guess
It looks awesome by the way, i wish i could run into something like that haha! |

| Yes we got really lucky with that find especially at the right time........The Betta's are very warm and I do water changes every day. They are very healthy and active. Once a week I mix a jar of BettaRevive and they all get a little squirt of that also. |

| I can tell you that all of the breeders I know cup the grow outs...Some use smaller containers than others..I personally as a breeder (of Champion Bettas) keep my grow outs in 1/2 gallon containers and do daily water changes...The temp in my fish room is 78 year round....
Looks like you have a pretty nice set up there! I'd love to see what's in the cups |
