great pics! it looks like a fun tank for sure..but that gourami is deffinately bloated a bit .. did he just eat?

That looks like a cool tank. I would worry about the stand not supporting the perimeter of the tank. I see that there is foam and plywood underneath it, but it would still very much concern me. Not trying to put you down at all- I've just seen many 55's leak and it definitely is not fun!

there is a sturdy piece of plywood under it
it has been like that for over 8 months

I understand, but these tanks are manufactured with the intent that the consumer will support the entire perimeter with a stand. Even if the plywood is sturdy, it is still flexible and as such could cause tremendous stress on the middle section of the tank.

They are, but you have to plan ahead
their maximum size is 5 inches.
you can keep them with fish but make sure they arent small enough to fit in their mouth
they are peaceful with fish too big to fit in their mouth.

make sure you have a good lid because they may escape
every easy to take care of them
i feed my by hand sometimes

research them a little
they are about $7 each
Good luck(if your gonna get them)
