The pics I post are from moments after I introduced a female sub-adult Oscar "Flor" (sexed by the vet, named by my wife) to the tank of my widowed male Tiger Oscar "Luna".
This tank keeps several species, among them, I keep six Kenyi. Two of the male Kenyi ("Cheech" and "Chong") are dominant and hold their own territory, which both seem to respect (except when courting one of the female Kenyi).
The male Tiger Oscar "Luna" has historically ignored this particular male Kenyi ("Cheech": territory towards middle of the tank), who bullies around regardless of the other fish species especially if bigger than him in size (e.g. Heros Severums -relocated, Firemouths, Convicts, Angelfish, Silver Dollars).
Luna's ignoring behavior doesn't happen with the other male Kenyi ("Chong": territory towards left side of the tank) who used to be -believe it or not- somewhat close to the previous female Tiger Oscar "Moon" (who passed away last month); "Chong" -then subdominant Kenyi male- swam next to the female Oscar during their sub-adult time -including when "Luna" was pretending her- and somehow, since then, gets on his nerves easily.
Enough of history, let's see the images:
These three pics show Luna showing off in front of Flor as "Cheech" went bullying at her. No one got harmed but these two males did some lip-locking (never observed before this time).
