may be common to you, but hes special to me!

heres my 4" (roughly) un-named common pleco. he is the longest ive kept a fish, which is a lame 8 months lol. anyhow... the other night i caught him with his fins up and out (which is rare) so i thought i would snap some photos of him. so what do you think, is this a healthy looking fish?

now, im not a pleco master, but he seems pretty healthy and happy to me, but im curious to know if he looks healthy and happy to somebody that knows more about them.

does it mean anything when he has his fin up like that? not sure if it matters or not, but he was chomping on an algae wafer and my ghost shrimp kept cruisin around him. i was thinkin maybe he was being protective of the wafer, and that was his way of trying to scare the shrimp.

Thats exactly what he's doing. Flaring up as he eats to make himself look bigger, scaring away anyone who might take his food!

Hello & Welcome,

Your fish is nice, it would be a good idea to get liquid test kits , sometimes fish may look healthy but there are things the human eye cannot detect .
