| 66.49 Gallon Cichlid Tank Here are the pics of the tank we set up last night. We're not sure yet if we are going to build or buy a new stand for it. In the pictures you'll noticed that we laid out some 2x6's along with a sheet of plywood to help distribute the weight as a temporary fix. What do you guys think? |

| wow ! nice ... a touch of paint here and there and that stand is done. it dont look temporary to me. dont even need any paint. Maybe you can stick some fake plant stalks waterfalling out of the hole between the 2x6's. cheap nice effect. It really don't need nothing from where i'm sitting. cool. enjoy Last edited by slimfish; February 9th, 2009 at 12:27 AM.

| It is a fluval filter and the driftwood is real. We're currently trying to assemble a sort of underwater watermill where the bubble turn it out of wood I collected for a nearby creek. Thanks for the comments guys. |

What do you guys think? | Gorgeous thank BlowPhish. ;] What kind of substrate are you using ? I myself have a 40gl cichlid tank with 3 firemouths, 2 convict cichlids, 1 pictus catfish, and 4 Labidochromis sp "mbamba". Also if you really want your plants and fish to stand out a black background would do great. ;;] |

We need to add another bag of eco-complete for a thicker layer of substrate which will darken the substrate quite a bit. I agree with you on the darker colors. We are going to go with a gradient blue background for the backdrop. We have one on one of our 33 gallons and really like it. it gives such a nice watery effect. |

| We wanted to add something to the tank that we made ourselves. The wood was collected from a nearby creek. We were going for a ferris wheel. |

| Unfortunately it wasn't strong enough we thought in the end and we scrapped it. We need the proper tools to make angled cuts in the wood so we just made something simple for now using aquarium silicon. |

| We changed the background to a nice gradient blue, added another bag of eco-complete and re-arranged things AGAIN. There's kind of a little stonehenge going on in one of the photo's. |

| This second hand tank came with a fluval 204. The filter is made to do up to 40 gallon tanks. We stuck our whisper 30-60 HOB on there to help things along. They combined didn't do a very good job so we picked this nice filter up last night. It's made to do up to 175 gallons with a flow rate of 340 GPH. |

| We brought our Jewel back to the local fish store because he wasn't very happy. We replaced him with this Blue Ahli who seems to be doing alot better than the jewel was. |

Pretty tank Blowphish | Thanks Angela. Working with the wood was actually pretty cool. I've never done anything like that before but my girlfriend and I thought it would be something we could do together. We're thinking of tying some java fern or java moss to the rooftop and sides with some fishing line. Any ideas of what plant we could find in town that would work? |

| I would search for malawi safe plants , stuff that they won't eat because of the taste. |

| We decided to go with java moss for the little cabin we built. We tied it with fishing line and rearranged things one last time to make room. Here are some pics. |
