I bought the tank 5 years ago but just as i was about to get it going i relocated. So now about 2 months ago i started it up.

I want to put in some plants not sure live or plastic, ill be keeping Gouramis and the likes.

I also want to add some wood in. The mini cave with the brownish roof tile piece over it is made by small pieces of rock.

oh okay, well that's great!!!

if you want to do live plants, make sure you look into what kind of lighting the plants need, low, medium or high, and what kind of lighting you have. if you're looking for a pretty easy and hardy plant as a beginner, i'd recommend java ferns, anubias, and java moss, i have all three and they've survived and done pretty well even through my horrible plant-keeping skills. i'd also recommend a substrate like ecocomplete, and getting something like seachem's flourish to add to the water. and if you are going to get live plants, add them in before you start to cycle, they can help the process along.

yeah, i'd maybe split things up a big more, you have everything sort of pushed together in the middle and i think it would look nice to break it up a bit more, put some in the foreground some in the background and some in the middle, and it will give your fish more space to hide

You could easily stay with your current arrangement and add a wall of taller plants like Anacharis behind your decor, and then some shorter grassy plants in the front. It would be very pleasing to the eye. Browsing the forum and viewing other members tanks can also give you ideas.

Good luck!
