Our new babies!

13 beautiful baby Mickey Mouse Platy's!!!

They were just born this morning between 11 AM and 1 PM.

In some of these pics you can see a conjoined twin...both of them are still alive. It's a sad sight though.

Nice baby pictures. I don't really keep the livebreaders to breed, but that is what they do so I try to give them a chance with plenty of places to hide. In a community tank, the fry often become food, but every so often, a few make it and grow up to join the community.

Our fish are vicious fry-eating machines. We think that they may attack and eat the fry as they're still being born causing internal damage to the mother. We've had two platies who were never the same after giving birth, and one that died the day after. But Speckles looks healthiest out of all of them...she's the only one that has given birth in a breeder box.

Aw, they are so adorable!
I hope the conjoined one makes it, that'd be way cool to have a fish with two heads.

Actually they got eaten. They got too close to the slats in the box and one of the fish got them. But...better a quick death than a slow painful one. We now have the box wrapped in a net, just in case any more little adventurers get too close to the edge.
