| My new Betta! New to Fishlore, heres Phillip my male betta!
He has a nice 5 gallon (20 litre) tank to swim in and hopefully I can find him a friend once I research what he will be friends with.
Here are some picks!
Stop moving! I'm not a good photographer!

| Welcome Phillip
He's gorgeous! Sometimes bettas will accept otos or corys but they like to be in groups. Unfortunatly in a 5g there's really not room for tank mates. |

| Welcome to Fishlore! Beautiful Betta As other people have stated, getting him a friend is probably not a good idea, he'll be much happier on his own |

Hi .. a beauty (face only a mother can love)! If bettas were dogs they would be 'bulldogs'.
Your question on tank mates, I felt the same way (just got my li guy)and thought he needs a pal..nope..I also have a 5G tank..hes happy as can be, has my face and ( cats ) to watch and has our company. I think they are happy with that Enjoy handsome Phillip! |

| Great! then he should be fine by himself! I'll keep him company!
Yes he does have some ripped fins, when I bought him a few days ago I didn't get a good look but he does seem to have not been very well looked after. Hes a bit deformed at the base of his tail also. I'm not going back to that petshop again!
Well anyway I'm going to spoil him now so he'll have a good life!
Just a question, does it hurt if Bettas bite you? |

| No, it doesn't hurt. It feels like something sucking on your finger.
He looks just like my betta Volturi. |

And no, betta bites don't hurt, they're harmless |

| Lol good.
I'm spoiling him with brine shrimp at the moment lol.
When he goes to bed at night he rests on top of the Java fern I have in the tank, how cute. Last edited by Foolyfoo; January 23rd, 2009 at 06:53 AM.

Some people worry that their betta won't be as personable with another fish but a snail probably woundnt effect it.. and they wont be too big
Although you should probably get a mystery snail because they dont breed like the other snails |

| Hehe, thanks guys!
I'm thinking of getting 2 or 3 Cory cats, I would probably have to upgrade to a 10 gallon. Would they be ok in the 5 gallon for a couple of weeks? |

| honestly it depends entirely on the temperament of your betta, some get along with corycats wonderfully, some dont. i'd have a back-up plan in case things dont work out |
