Cool. I feel kinda silly, but what does transforming mean?

All malawi cichlids are born the same color as their mother, when they mature they will transform into their adult colors, with the flavus a bright yellow/black band and with the kenyi from blue to yellow.

I like that Ruben Red of yours. Have you had any success keeping live plants in any of the tanks?

Thanks. On the plants no, I don't have any plants in any of my adult mbuna tanks. I have an amazon sword plant in one of my grow out tanks but thats all. The plants are all in the background scene in my tanks. Having plants with mbuna is impossible.

They look great!!!..I can't wait to immerse my self into the Cichlid world and see where it takes me.. I've been doing a TON of research and can't wait to start stocking my tank. I love your cichlids. I hope mine look that good.

Thanks, I plan to take more pics in the next couple days, I haven't posted any new ones of my 58g tank or my peacock/hongi tank. The hongi male is lit up right now in "spawning" mode. So this is a great time to get pics of him.

As long as you keep up the waterchanges, food rotating (as in fresh veggies, spirulla, and the occasional "treat" of a frozen meat product) they will do great! Also, my biggest tip, be really choosy when buying them for the brightest colors.

nice tank, if i decide to start a cichlid tank im sure i will talk to you first

(out of curiosity how many cichlids can you fit in a 180gal). assuming the mbuna are all the same sizes.

Pretty much anything over 20 cichilds would be fine, keeping the cut off at 30. You have a lot of space to overstock for aggression reasons.
