Finished Cichlid Tank

Here a few pics of the tank. It's got plenty of places to hide and swim in and out. Even found a rock that has an original cave on it. Enjoy.

Thanks. Tank is a little cloudy now because of moving rocks and gravel. Hopefully it will clear in a day or two.

That's what I thought. I got a pretty good variety of rocks.I was able to get different colors, sizes, shapes and surfaces. It was a hassle because the temp was about lower 50's, windy and raining but I got what I needed. Pretty happy with it too.

LOL, good job considering the weather. My first collection of rocks was in 20 degree weather here in tn in jan. I had cars stopping on the side of the road asking me if I was okay. I guess it looked like something had fell out of the car since I was parked so close to where I was collecting.

The next batch I got was where the lake was down so far from the drought and TVA lowers the lakes in the winter as well, I got a lot of limestone from the bottom of the lake that way, I could actually drive out where normally the water is 10 foot deep.

Then I gave up and bought some lava rock for my 58g, I love the lava rock, but I still put limestone under it.

Things people do to make sure their tanks are pretty! lol

Good JOB on yours!

I like the lava rock too got two good pieces but every time i dump water on them they loose more sediment from the rock and some red tint. I'm going to try putting it for a while in a bucket and the boil it. Thanks.

Thats a great idea, when I get the lava rock out of the tank and do my vaccuming the only thing I hate about it is where its so pourus it holds water and makes a dripping mess.

steveangela1,
Does your lava rock leaves like a sandy residue every time you wash it or pick it up?
Thanks.

Very nice setup shipmate and very natural looking. I know you had to be careful setting in those heavy stones.
