He is a beautiful boy.
He looks like a delta tail or a half moon who is still growing. Crown tails are more spikey.

Yes, he is a super delta...glad you noticed! He's definitely a crown-tail, but he's still young, so he's still quite small, and stuff. I love his colour. When you see him under the light in my tank he looks a pastel pink colour...

CT baby betta have spikes pretty much right away
I had gotten a 3 month old one last April from Aquabid...you could see his double double ray crowns already. Most betta are not up for sale until they are at least 3 months old. I bet he is a combtail.

Wow, he's gorgeous too! Maybe Ziggy isn't a crown-tail? But i'm pretty sure he is, because his fins look sort of webbed, like a frogs foot You know what i mean x

I don't think he's that either. Is there any way i can make him fan his tail and fins out? Someone suggested holding a mirror infront of him, but is that safe?

That is safe...how do you think breeders get such greats pix of the ones they are selling. Seeing their own reflection doesn't stress all betta out. Most really do get use to it from my experience anyways.
Comb tails have many lengths too. The betty splendens site explains all the tails types pretty well but the info is 2 years old.

I'll try and research bettas more, i tried holding a mirror infront of Ziggy, but he just stared at his reflection! =] I just remembered that the shopkeeper said he was a super-delta crossed with crown-tail! That means his tail has the points of a crowntail, but they are much less exaggerated. So here we go, Ziggy is a

They really are, they are so different to other fish, and you get to pick from loads of different colours, and tail-types, so everyone has bettas that look different.
