I have known Salvinis to get on very well with Fire mouth, Convicts, and kribensis. But any cichlid that is on about the same agressive level will be ok.
But like with any fish, keeping a close eye on them is the best way so that some fish are not over bullied.
I personally would love to keep some convicts but I am not keen on doing so as they breed too often and you can't always find LFS that will take the young. A very underated cichlid.I may think very seriously before mixing cichlids. Choose what you really want to go for then do your research to make absolutly sure they are all compatable as far as you can. Then build the type of other fish round the ones you really want.
You can't go wrong with a nice sellection of catfish / plecs / corys if you have the space too |
Thanks Jill
Reason I asked is that I specifically try to keep SA fish in my tanks.
My 55 has Angel fish, Discus, Cardinal tetras, Bolivian Ram, Striped Raphael Cat fish. Only none SA are my rainbows, which get a long with just about anything lol..
Another tank I am keeping Cutteri cichlid pair for breeding, another tank I have an Angel fish and a small male cutteri.Another tank has two Jack Dempseys, a pair of juvies.
So you can see that I am keen on keeping SA fish. lol..
My PH is around 6-6.4, soft water.
I have always loved the look of the mature Salvini, tho the immature sure do not have a lot of color. Some day when I get the 100g, hopefully in the spring, I may try Salvini with the
JD's.
thanks for your info! I appreciate it...
