Well, I'd suggest some fish... lol. and some plants/decor stuff. Looks like fun! What's your plan for fish to go in there?

yeah the plant will be put in as soon as the tank is cycled. And I'm thinking of getting discus....but I've had some problems with gouramis - so I'm not sure if I should go for discus - i heard they could be a challenge.

So far my placo (George) will go in there - he is getting a bit big. and I have 2 clown roaches that will also join him when they are a bit bigger (they still babies)

My boyfriend thinks it funny to let my betta Jacky take a swim in the big tank - poor boy won't know what hit him LOL !!

Aw, I bet he'd have fun in all that space, not have any idea what to do with it all, lol.

Can you imagine trying to catch him to scoop him out again.... that will take forever... might stress him out as well... mmm kinda makes one think hey.... maybe he should just stay were he is... will be best for both our nerves!! LOL!

Lol. I never have any problem catching my bettas though. You should try catching puffers! Now that's quite a feat! lol

LOL! I can imagine it could be mission. How many puffers do you have? do you keep them in one tank - together?

Yeah, I have 2 GSPs together. But they'll be moving either to a much larger tank or to two separate tanks within a year or so. (They grow slow and have 10-15 yr lifespans)

WOW!! that is a long long time I'd love to have one, but as far as I understand you can't really keep them in a community tank - I don't know much about them though.

They're the biggest reason I keep fish! They're my obsession, lol.
Yeah, communities won't work well for them. What with their trying to eat everything and all.

Oh i don't know. i saw some at my local fish store... but I'm not sure what kind they are... I find myself nose stuck to the tank every time I go around there for supplies... then my BF will drag me away followed by a few repeats of the "no" word..."no, no, no, no" LOL!

Haha. The thing with puffers is that almost every species has different requirements. And many of them it's impossible to sex (like the GSP)

Oh dear LOL! Well I'll let you know what species they have - I know there is about 3 different ones in one thank there... yaiks! but it is a big tank and each have their own little house thingy they live in.
so I'll find out and chat to you about the species... I'll seek a tank in when my bf isn't looking LOL!

The male bettas would probably smell each other, I'd strongly advice against that. Nor would I put a male and a female together.
In either scenario someone would get hurt or killed.

Great start on the tank. I know you'll do a great job with it. I can't wait to see how it progresses.

Good luck.

Isis, I've just discovered something about Discus. It seems the lighter colored ones prefer a light substrate and background or they begin to pepper changing colors as if trying to blend in with their backgrounds. Just to note. I have a white butterfly and his coloring was fine until I put him into a dark background. He's all peppered now. So strange. They say it can sometimes be reversed. I haven't tried it yet.(found out on simplydiscus.com)

I live in Sandton JHB (South Africa) just moving about 10km... but its still a mess - emptying the tanks - will probably have to let it cycle again... - oh well.

That's ok, at least you have all the equipment. Keep us posted when you're up and going again. Gives you more time to think about who's going to live in that beautiful tank. : )
