That's why I keep him by himself.I tried putting him with my Oscars, but he harassed them way to much, and he is half their size!

HAHA YEAH,hopefully next spring I can get the 200 gallon tank I have always wanted. Then maybe there will be enough room for him and a few other large CA & SA cichlids. But as aggressive as he is,I don't think he will ever have roommates. But until then, this 55 will only have one occupant.I am afraid adding him to another tank,or trying to add something to HIS tank, would result in a dead fish.

I got him last March, and he was barley one inch.He hardly had any color at all,and I thought maybe I had gotten a Blue Acara. But as he grew, the orange in his tail and dorsal fins really started to glow.Right now he is about 5 inches. The O's I have in a 125g are about 10 and 12 inches. He went after them relentlessly when I tried moving him in with them.It was funny because he was the NEW one in THEIR tank, and they let him bully them all over the tank!So he will spend the rest of his hopefully very long life growing up in his black sand tank, that really shows off all his awesome coloring!I really hope he grows to be at least 10 inches!

Black sand for substrate, and I painted the background black.I find it easier than taping a background on,and I don't like not having any background at all. Here is a link for the sand.
