Yeah the spectrum of the tank lights really dont work well with my digital camera, so the colors and everything are a little weird looking lol, makes it harder to see stuff

Thanks, I love the Malaysian driftwood, especially that it sinks even if its tiny little pieces... it makes it much easier to aquascape with it. Yeah, all the plants seem to be doing very well with the exception of the crypt doing the usual "crypt melt", I still dont understand why they do that though....

Are you using regular aquarium gravel or maybe something like aqua soil? I found when I get crypt if I plant it in a newly established tank it melts very quickly. Your driftwood looks great.

Thanks =)
I use regular natural (uncolored) gravel, but I also use micro and macro ferts along with Excel, so the crypts definitely have plenty of nutrients.

Love your tank, I agree the Malaysian wood is the way to go. I just bought a large piece myself and can't wait to start decorating. Your plants look great too. It seems that the fertilizers are very helpful? Could be why my plants never survive. Hmmmm.

Yeah, I have attempted to keep plants in the past without fertilizers and I always had bad luck, for example... you probably have irregular or odd-shaped leaves, yellowing and dead spots on the leaves, and slow growth...
these are all caused by insufficient nutrients. I would error on the low side when fertilizing, as any amount will help, but definitely get a good micro fertilizer like regular Flourish (not Flourish trace) that has a lot of trace minerals... I also use a macro fertilizer (I use Tetra Flora Pride) that has a lot of Iron and Potassium only in it... and then Flourish Excel is really useful if you dont have a CO2 system as it provides organic carbon that the plants can use instead of relying on dissolved CO2 from the air only. On a side note I wouldnt use the Nitrogen only macro fertilizers unless you have REALLY REALLY low nitrates, or else you will end up with algae.....
Here is a link showing all of these and some others ferts as well....
