Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

Shes going in with my long finned bristlenose. They have albino genes also. Hoping for long fin albino babies

Now the biggies. L45 Bristlenose, of course being out of the water all of his beautiful bristles are laying down as their soft anyway.

Then Mr. and Mrs. L45. They were not happy as you can tell because Mr L45's operculum bristles are extended (bristles on the side of his head on gill plate)

Thanks Dino!!!! Their beauties!!
Also some of my bristlenose fry went to live at the Fish house, they took right to their new tanks

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

Very intersting! they actually quite cute, just a question, how long can they stay out of water? i know that they can last quite a while, even heard a story of one that jumped out its tank and when the lady got home it was dry and she put it back in its tank and it flopped about and is fine now. Thanks for the Lovely pics!!!

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

As long as they stay moist, plecos can generally stay out of water for up to 24 hours.

Not that I plan of testing that.

They were only out of the water for the pictures for less than 5 minutes.

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

It's really stressful for them to be out of the water for long periods of time and it doesn't make them very happy as you can tell from the picture. These were on their way to the bag so we stopped to take pics. For a couple of minutes as long as their wet I wouldn't think it is harmful but definately not something to do on a regular basis. Once they settle in I'll try to get better pictures of their bristles.

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

They are soooooo cute !!!

I didn't know it's safe to take the fish out of the tank for pictures, lol. You have to be pretty careful with their fins, right? I'd be afraid to take out any of my angels for pictures, especially the adult couple. The dad is so strong it's really hard to catch him! He also splashes water at my face during feeding sometimes, lol. Their fins seem so delicate, yet they're so strong!

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

There are only a few species of catfish and cichlids that I would handle in such a manner.

Keep in mind, I have been keeping fish for 25+ years, I would hope by now I know what I am doing.

Most fish are best left in the tank at all times.

Re: Look what folowed me home from Dinos fish house.....

The L45's I got from Dino spawned this past weekend while I was out of town. Here's some pics of the wigglers. Dad kicked some of the eggs put of the cave so I scooped them into a net and hung the net over a bubbler in the Bristlenose fry tank. The second pic is a wiggler in the main tank. They are one day old.
