They are so cool!! I would recommend you to get gravel and some plants or something so they can hide in.The red ones and blue with red stripes are my favortie.

When keeping discus especially breeding them, bare bottoms are must. These pix looks like a discus breedery.

With breeding Discus, its very important to keep the water in pristene conditions. Also is the debate that for some reason, planted tanks, decorations and gravel will stunt the growth of Discus. I have heard this debated many times by Discus owners.
Most breeders only use BB tanks for their Discus. Its a lot easier to clean up and keep optimal water conditions going.

Reasoning behind this is because those are nitrate traps. Plants deal with some yes, but you can always find detritus in a planted tank, or a tank with gravel and decorations.

You can keep adult discus in a planted tank just fine. But when they are young, as they grow, that is a very important cycle in the fish's life. How they are raised determine their shape, health, and personality later on for adulthood. A 5-7" fish is not as delicate as a 2-4" fish, which arn't as delicate as Nickle and Dime sized fish.
