First Pics of My 55
This is kinda just a temporary setup til my other decor arrives (driftwood and the propeller) and of course I will have to soak the driftwood a while, so for now, this is it. Currently 3 Cories and a Bamboo shrimp. (I know they say the shrimp is for tanks that have been running a while, but keep in mind I have not seen him digging in the substrate at all, he sits up on one of the rocks with his filters out, so I'm not worried about him).
Just some natural rocks from the golf course I used to work at a few years ago that came out of my turtle's tank. I made a few caves and overhangs and what not for hiding, but the Cories seem to be having a ball in all that space. I like the black rocks with the black background and can't wait to see it when I have Tetras, Angelfish, and a Gourami in there. Anyways, here it is, my $100 tank, lol.

Wow, very nice deal. Are they live plants? Make sure you post pics as your tank progresses, it's off to a good start.

Nope, I think you're the 3rd person to ask that, lol. I ordered some that should be in by the time I get back from out of town. I also added a 4" bubble wall (I just like a little section, not a whole curtain). My driftwood will be in on the 12th, and the boat propeller should be in the 12th or 13th. Figure a week to boil/soak the driftwood to get all the tannin out, and a good hour's work to clean the prop so there's no grease or anything left, I think I can have it completely set up and have pics by the 18th...

Updated. First thing you'll notice is plants. Second is the boat propeller on the right side. The final thing you'll notice is inhabitants
There's a school of 6 Leopard Corydoras, a school of 5 Cardinal Tetras (only got 6 and only these 5 survived the first night), a Bamboo Shrimp, a Red Flame Gourami, and a Neon Blue Gourami. My driftwood should be here tomorrow and I'll be boiling that a few times and then let it soak for a few days...
I'm still going to be adding fish (sucks going slow) 5 more Cardinal Tetras and 2 Veiled Angelfish. That should leave me with 5" to play with for maybe a red tailed shark or something.

Very nice setup I love Gouramis, I have the same ones!!
I see your bubble wall is right below your filter intake... just wanted to make sure you know that the air bubbles getting sucked in may damage your filters impeller over time

That filter isn't turned on, it's just taking up the space so the fish don't jump out. I got the tank used so the lids were cut already. I already ordered new ones and have plans to make my own canopy. I'm also adding another Penguin 350, and I will center the air stone at that point. I will also be doing some re-arranging when the driftwood goes into the tank, right now, I just needed to have some surface agitation on that side so I left the bubble wall off center (another reason I like the smaller wall, that's being pushed by a little pump for a 10gallon, much cheaper than the bigger pumps, lol, though both may be upgraded to something slightly bigger soon...

Go for it, $11 shipped from eBay. Also, mine was so "dinged up" that the edges were all smooth, nothing sharp and no grinding required, just washed it really good with hot water and a brush, ran it under cold water to cool it back down, and put it in there. I think it looks great, but have yet to see my shrimp perched on it, lol.
