Hi Kevin,
Thanks for formally introducing yourself! Your pics look great, and I wish I could see your tanks in person. I bet they are amazing. Hopefully one of these days, I will have the space to have as many gallons as you do. Right now, my total of 310 gallons seems like a lot (thats probably cause its crammed into a 1 bedroom apt, lol). Like me, you look like you are a sucker for cichlids Anyways thanks for sharing

Nice! I love them all. Haps are my favorite type of Malawi fish, you have some nice ones. Also love the discus, love that PB down front in the first pic and the dark red wild type.
Also like your Lwanda.

Thanks for the compliments.
So here is a rundown of what I have. (I live in a 1 bedroom apartment too... though it is a large one at least.)
250 Malawi
240 SA/CA
135 Discus (and Clown loaches with 2 catfish)
120 right now SA/CA I want to swith this tank out for a larger better one...
75 1 ebjd (young) 2 heros (Fish will be moving around soon...)
3 55's growouts/q tanks
50 malawi breeding. (Peacocks mostly)
30 long apisto
30 long growout (Lwandas are in there now)
And a lot of 10s or smaller. Growouts/killifish/gobies/q-tanks/shrimp/who knows tanks.
But yep almost all my fish are cichlids. I have 2 different types of cat fish, a bunch of ameca splendids, two Siamese Algae Eaters, and some killifish and bumble bee gobies. The rest are all cichlids.

I respect your knowledge and absolutely love your fish...that other thread of being bored, made the fish look totally uncomfy...not knowing the story behind them, or their habits for breeding, growing out etc, they looked totally afraid and ready to jump out ...I like the looks of these tanks and your fish are totally amazing...im still not a fan of that other tank but as you said, its not the norm for most fish keepers I guess...im not a breeder and just like to make the tanks friendly, and fun to look at...I am wondering where you sleep tho LOL ...got a pic of your entire room with all your tanks? thanks for sharing, and I appologize if I came off snobby on your other thread...I didnt even realize you had fish there ...I thought it was a deco to begin with!

that other tank with the scared discus was not his, it was Matt's aka Slug.
and while its not my personal preference either. I have to assume these guys know what they're doing.
i think us betta moms are more into the pretty looks and betta dances and "happy fish" than these guys are.
ikevi, i happen to LOVE your discus tanks!!!!! i think that's a nice balance of clean, easy to care for, but not stark.
just curious on your list are those Gallons or number of fish? seems like there's ALOT of fish in some of those thanks. when the tank is more plain like that, without gravel and such, can you keep more fish in there? or how does that work with so many. not judging, just curious
also, can you look at my post new cichlid pics and tell me what the pink one is. someone said peacock?

Oh that wasn't even my thread... I just poped in to give some suport to Slug.
I actually have it setup so no fish are in my room... I used to have a bunch in there but when I moved to a slightly bigger apartment I made it so I didn't have to. (Well I guess I have a 5 that has only shrimp and live plants, no filtering though.) Though if I decided to get more tanks then I sort of have too...
Here are a few shots of my place. Oh and the black thing is my Cocker spaniel Thena. (She is now a little over a year old, I got her when I was studying for my qualifying exams.)
Sight you see when entering the door.
The supposed den...
My entertainment area. (Bedroom is through a door to the left, no reason for people to see that.)
View back towards the entrance.
Thena

Oh those are gallons. The bar bottomns do allow me to keep things cleaner, though since I can clean everything out. (I tend to do ~50% water changes on every tank every week... I have it setup so it doesn't take too long, but it still is a pain. Though nothing like Dino's at least.)
I also over filter like crazy. I would say my 250 has likely the largest stocking and it has a 55 full of bio balls and fulval bio material. (I mean I have likely 8 boxs of fluval stuff and then the 55 is packed for the 55... IE there is more than enough filtration.) In fact I never have seen a spike in that tank even if I don't do water changes for 3 weeks.
As for the other tanks with a lot they are all young still so I don't have quite the bio problem. Heck that 55 with the 3 large fish is the one that is giving me problems. I used to have ~8 small fish in there pulled them out to put the new Exochochromis anagenys and even with an over stuffed AC 110 running I have to do 50% water changes every day to keep things to my liking. (Things are starting to stabilize finally.)
And yes I have friends that think I am nuts... But we just don't talk about fish then. (Remember I am a physicist everyone here tends to have a little oddity.)
