we've had issues with our plecos too, especially when they get big. they get so lazy its hard to get them to eat and eventually they die. i think we've lost 3

this last one seems to be doing better, but we never see him. He's a HIDER and we have to really look to find him. but he's smaller than the previous ones. like 2" instead of 4"+

The substrate is play sand with a sprinkling of fine black gravel.
I added the gravel to the sand to diffuse the light of the sand
when taking pics. I use it in most of my tanks.

Thanks, the lense was an Nikor 18 - 70
settings F11 Aperture 1/250 speedlight set at TTL+1 DIFFUSED

Very nice fish, that first cichlid is very attractive , ive never seen them in my local fish stores though , i wish i oculd take pictures as good as yours!

Allie the Nics can be pretty aggressive especially in breeding mode.

Ben I have to order most of my cichlids from breeders,
the stores here are not great at providing the more
sought after cichlids either.
