found an issue.

The fry can swim down the bubble tube and into the filter, easy to release them, but now looking for a solution.

Could you use a rubber band to secure a piece of fish netting over the tube?

going to the pet shop later, see if they have a proper gauze or somthing, otherwise, it may have to be a piece of net or somthing.

Finally sorted out the problem.

The point of entry wasn't the bubble tube, they were getting in through the vents on the side of the filter housing.

My solution was simply putting some corse gravel around the filter housing, which is too big to get through the holes, but small enough to pack in tightly around the filter base, and stop the fry getting in.
