Saying goodybe to my Catfish: Master Lee

If you don't know, I have an Asian upside-down catfish that i've had ever since I started this hobby. He's been through good and bad times, and has survived through a major parasite infection that wiped out almost all my tank without any signs of infection.

Unfortunately, as I found out he will grow to be almost a foot long, and even my 55gal isn't enough room for him =(.

I cannot get a larger tank, as 55 is the most I can fit in the room. I could probably get at most 100 gallons to fit in my bedroom, but getting it up there, filling it, and the constant maintenance would be a pain (note: my room is the 3rd floor.. used to be the attic revamped into a room)..

So, unfortunately, he must go. I am giving him away to a really good LFS that I know will take care of him well. They are being kind and are giving me some store credit as well, so at least i'll be able to work on 55 some more..

So, here is my goodbye thread to him. May he live a long and healthy life!!

(wow he used to be so small LOL... and btw pics are newest to oldest..)

You're thinking of his best interest, and that's cool. Good luck man.

He's a beautiful fish and I know it's hard to give him up, but you're doing the best thing for him.

yeah thanks everyone.

I took him there and they immediately started acclimating him in this very nice tank (it was fully planted and everything.)

The bottle that was seen in the first 2 pics I left with them as he wouldn't leave it LOL... he loves that thing!!

He'll be happy, and I even saw a few other Asian upside-down catfish (though very young, and a lot smaller). They are going to take good care of him and that's what matters.

On a lighter note, I got 2 dollars store credit, which never expires. When my 55 is finally done, i'll use it to get some mollies =).

Thanks for the support everyone!!

Sorry to hear of you having to part with your catfish, that always sucks. Atleast he has a good home Are they keeping him on display or is he going to be offered for sale?

I am not sure honestly...

I will say that I know even if he's sold, he'll be in a good home. the LFS always asks these ?'s:

1. Tank size
2. has it been cycled?
3. what other fish are in the tank?

they ask a lot of ?'s to make sure he/she will do fine in your tank..

so that's the good news.

well i'm going to try to clean the tank with something.. ugh.. i'll let you know how it goes..
