Some tank photos w/Driftwood and java moss.

I took some photos today of some changes in my tanks. I have added driftwood with java moss attached with string and elastic bands til they take hold ( so ignore the anchors lol)
I know that Shawnie asked me if I had any tank photos to share, and since I have not taken many lately I thought I would throw some up for the heck of it.
Hope you all like them!
this group will be of the tanks..
The next group I add below will be some of the close ups of the driftwood and java moss.

These are some close ups of the driftwood and java moss.
1) driftwood knot with java moss in the 55g.
2) the Angel fish in the 29g with java moss attached to a flat rock w/ elastic.
3) same tank, but the opposite end showing my pigeon blood Discus.
4) is the driftwood in the JD 29g tank.
All the driftwood was found on my local beach. I soaked and washed and boiled what I could. Kept putting them through fresh water changes til they were ready for the tanks.
what do you think? Ohh the 29g w/blue gravel.. well that one never has a speck of algae in it, wish I can say the same for the others lol..

Thanks so much! I hope they do well... and then I can take the ties off at some point when they attach their roots, just not sure how long that will be.
The driftwood will also take some time to stay submerged without rocks on top lol..
But.. its fun!

Yeah driftwood could take months even up to a year to be fully submerged without rocks. The java moss could take some time to get attached onto something. I have done it in a school tank on a skull last June and now I can see tiny bits attached to it.

I was lucky with my other driftwood, it took about three months to anchor itself to the bottom without floating. Im hoping that it will only take that many months again. But they are all different types of woods, so who knows?
But thats ok.. the rocks can stay... its no big deal.

Only time can tell... it doesn't look bad with that rock on it anyway. I actually like it with that rock on it.

It's good as long as it stays there.

Thank you Shawnie
the tank with the blue gravel still can use some touches to finish up the decorations. Ive had that running for almost a year now. It seemed at the time a nice one for the Angels, that are now separated. lol..
Thank you, Angel is a pretty one, she is over a year old now, as is Marble, in the 55g tank.

The tanks look great!
My experience with java moss is it will attach to everything.I used to put it on top of clay pots, not anchored, and in a few weeks it would start to grow inside the pot, through the hole in the bottom of the pot,and in the gravel around the pot.I think it is next to impossible to kill java moss,I was always trimming it back and throwing some of it out when I had it.
You should have no problems with it,before you know it,you'll be wondering where it all came from!

Thanks Carol.. I believe my son picked that rock up when he was up in Nova Scotia a few years ago. It works as an anchor even if it looks silly on top of the wood knot.. lol..

Thanks Fishbum... I sure hope that I have as much success with my java moss as you have with yours! thanks for letting me know about how long it takes for them to start to root themselves... I sure hope they take over one day, I love it!

I seem to find a lot of driftwood on the ocean side and plan on heading out again looking for more the end of the week. Its fun...
Thanks for the compliments on the Angel and Discus... they are finally getting along enough, that I was able to take the divider out. These were my 'bad boys'.. lol, tho Angel, I believe is a female.. but you get the idea! haha..

Rocks are wonderful... all the different shapes..colors.. patterns. You must have quite the collection!
I find a lot of neat ones at the beach from time to time. The good luck rock is the ones that have the white lines going right through them..
At least that is what all the fisherman have told me over the years.
I will have to keep you in mind when I find some kewl.. unusual ones!

Just about all the rocks in one 55g were collected from Crater diamond Mine in Murfreesboro AR. The three gentlemen mentioned above helped tote them out LOL
Plus I have rocks everywhere on my book shelves that can't go in the tanks. Even petrified Dinosaur Dung (thank Dino for that one )
