My Fishy Tank

Here is a picture (not the best) of my ten gallon tank.

Inhabitants:

3 Ghost Shrimp
2 Zebra Danios
1 Male Guppy
1 Plecostomus

Improvement suggestions?

Very nice, but what kind of plecostomus do you have? If it is a common one, you will need a 55g minimum for them. Maybe you could take the pleco back and get some more zebra danios? They like to be in schools.

Here is my pleco:

I believe it's common and if it is, What shall I do with it? What other plecos could go in my tank?

It is a common, and a very nice one. You can either get a bigger tank, or you can see if your pet store will take him back. Maybe you will get lucky and they will give you store credit? the smallest plecos would be a rubbernosed and a bristlenosed , but they are four to six inches and you would be pushing your bio limit. If you want an algae eater, try some ottos. Honestly its hard to house a pleco happily in a ten gallon. THey also should have a piece of driftwood, because they enjoy snacking on it. It may also help with digestion (not sure..you should look that up).I think the best route, would be a couple more danios, or try some corydoras..they have great character and really do a great job cleaning.

It's quite odd that a store won't except a fish for no credit. Err... I don't know anyone in need of a pleco that has a 55 gallon tank.

That sucks! that is odd, considering that if they sell it it will be money for them. although, having one is a great excuse to get a bigger tank..lol

try to see if any LFS will take him in..I had the same problem with a common pleco...still sad but taking him to the LFS was the right thing to do

Hehe, I thought so.

My LFS is Petsmart and they won't accept it.

I like the back ground of the tank. And overall it's a very nice setup.

Check around at your smaller pet stores I know one will exchange a fish that gets to large for a smaller one and the other will take it and sell it on commission in my area. I thought I would have to get rid of one of my angels that way but instead I found a great deal on a tank at a thrift store. I just couldn't give one of mine up without doing everything in my power to keep it. When I was stocking my new 40 gallon tank I asked at petsmart when getting my peppered cories if they didn't seem to be working out with fluorite substrate if I could return them. They said I had 2 weeks to decide. They also had some chiclids there I was questioning them about and he said the same thing. I thought long and hard about them and glad I didn't get them after studying up on them online, but then again it would have been an excuse for another tank.
