120g Lake Malawi cichlids

My bf turned the 120g back into an african tank last week. Our cichlids weren't happy in 33g species only tanks. (I told him not to change it up a few weeks ago) The fish weren't breeding at all. Now we've got another acei holding and all the males are in the mood. Doing their breeding dances, lol.

Wow that is a beautiful tank. My only, probably obvious question is what is that spongey thing on your filter.

Thanks.
It's just a piece of sponge to cover the intake in case some fry escapes in the tank. They can get sucked up very easily.
