Crazy fish! Is he crazy, Mad, or just having fun?

I have a plecostomus in my big tank and I put a treasure chest bubbler in a while back. Nothing happened at first but in the last few months he keeps attacking it until he disables it. I think he enjoys messing with it so I fix it so he can attack it again. I even got a skeleton bubbler and he turned it over too. I don't want to keep fixing them if they are stressing him out. Check out this video and tell me if you think he is Crazy, mad and stressed, or just having a good time!

I have more video and I really think he enjoys stalking and attacking! I know it sure is entertaining for me to watch!

Thanks!

Hi Emily, Welcome to Fish Lore.

That's strange! I'd be afraid he would hurt himself on the edges.

Thanks Lucy! I really don't see him hurting himself but like I said I just don't want him to be stressed. I also don't want to take away his excitement if he's having fun!

I agree with Lucy, I would worry he would hurt himself. And I have never seen a Pleco do that before! wow.

Welcome to Fishlore.

Has he been watching "Finding Nemo"?

Do you have a bubble wand or regular air stone? I wonder how he'd react to those. I probably would take that out though, just to avoid injury to him.

that is the funniest thing!! it deffinately is on his nerves! LOL he looks healthy tho...but as others have said, with the sides he could cut himself...the bubble wands are cool ..just keep an eye on him...does he do it when its off?

Yeah, for whatever reason, he really doesn't like it. It is funny though.

Thanks again

As for the other bubblers in the tank I do have several more stones and he doesn't even look at them. It doesn't seem to be the actual bubbles as much as the fact that there is something else moving in the tank. As a matter of fact once he disables the chest and it just has a bubble or 2 coming out of he side he leaves it alone. Well sometimes he actually has to turn it over to be fully satisfied.
He is very healthy and I have had him for a VERY long time. Believe it or not he seems actually healthier since he has been playing with this thing. But unless I hear from somebody else that says they think he really likes it, I will probably take it out. Thanks all!
One more video...

i think my guess would be is that he doesn't like it.perhaps the open and close of the lid annoys him.? then again maybe he's just looking for food(booty) jk lol he looks annoyed.

since you said that he looks healthier while playing with it i would just get a different kind or something different that doesnt have any sharp edges and put that in the tank to me it looks like he is having fun but it is up to you.
