Heres My New Peacocks!!!

I am in love w/ these guys/gals! They are sooo pretty! And sweet! Already so friendly eating out of my hands! We are going to do a black/white theme w/ this tank and let the peacocks be the only real color in the tank....

My ob peacock (orange blotch) he/she is in a holding tank because of the size of the fish is way smaller than the others I am scared it will be the victim of a beating:

My sunburst peacock is w/ the ob and is very small also (ive already named him/her skittles):

Pretty Peacocks! That will be a great tank! I hope that I can do a tank of peacocks in the future. I tried mixing them with my mbuna and that was a BIG mistake. Are you doing an all male tank with them?

Thats our intentions... Yea on my post on the mbunas.. that was our "trial and error" we tried the peacocks mixed w/ the mbunas and well it didn't work and we loved the red top so much that we decided well why not just do a peacock tank so here we are! (bad mutli-tank syndrome huh??!! this is our 5th tank!) Its pretty bad when the people at the store where you reg shop know you as the multi tank people (of coarse there are several they say, the girl that works there agreed w/ me they are as bad as tatoos! (we left there after buying a tank and stuff and went to a tatoo place lol looked but will be going back for me and my husbands second, his second in a year mine since I was 18 (im 30))....

Back on subjeck...One thing I know the peacocks are way more mellow than the mbunas, but when it comes to feeding time they are pigs! The five we have are very compatable, I hope that the small guys I have when they get large enough to move to the big tank will be too.... or I will just have to get another tank... lol

I know, MTS is awful (but it's actually great)! I keep thinking of more tanks that I want to set up but we literally have no space to put one. I told my husband we are going to have to start getting rid of furniture such as the couch and his big tv to make room for more tanks.............I don't think he liked the idea

Lol, we have a huge living room, we actually have room for another tank about a 90 gallon if we want I can see it coming in about 2 months.... (isn't that when that rebate check comes from the fed?? lol) I am a stay at home mom works part time as a resp therapist and my job supports my habit... so when I get my check it is usually to buy stuff for tanks.... lucky me!!! prob not much longer though the way the gas prices are and groc are going up! and I am going back to school in a year....

Thanks, I got the rocks out of a local lake... I am actually going to take them out and replace them w/ texas holey rock and some black looking rock from the river, where I am doing the black/white theme... that was some rock from my mbuna tank left over... I have huge buckets of it where I gathered it so I could be choosy when I was putting it in, each time I take it out to vaccum it I put it all back in on the opp side and I test each rock to make sure its all stable (those little buggers dig!!) The drought was so bad this past year plus the TVA held back a lot of water this winter you could drive in the middle of the lake literally and I got rocks from a rift so it was so cool for the mbunas, they actually got a "rift" for themselves... not an african rift, but a real lake rift....

We had females in with our peacocks we had & they got nasty. Chasing & beating up the whole tank, after they got all the females holding. All our peacocks are gone to a new home.
They are gorgeous fish you have there, I hope you have better luck than we did with our peacocks.

Very cool! I'll look forward to seeing the new look to the tank and seeing how you setup the 90g when you get it.
