Here is my hubbys new fish Mr Bumblebee Crabro:

Here is my blue zebra (seems to be everyones fav):

And Mrs Acei (just figured out it was a girl):

What cute fishies! Your tank is looking really good. You have put a lot of work into getting it right and it is definetly paying off! I just had to redo the stocking on my Lake Malawi tank because of aggression problems. I can't wait until I get it looking good again. Yours is making me jealous....lol!

Its def worth the work! We have got really lucky w/ ours sticking strictly to mbunas! is the way to go... ours actually gets along so well they will school which I think is really cool for them! They are actually quite peaceful together.
Its took trial and error, and a lot of obsessive waterchanging/testing rock moving, etc
in fact I did a 5 tank water change, vaccum, rock move today... lots of work! but seeing that crystal clear water and healthy fish is worth it!

Yeah I agree. When it is done it is definetly worth it. Right now I just have 6 baby yellow labs in my tank. They are so cute because they school together and follow me when I walk past the tank. I am going to put a school of demasoni in with them once they grow a little bit more. Congratulations on such a great tank of fish

Thanks, I thought he was a goner... when I got him out of the tank he had a huge chunk gone out of his side and his fins were clamped. I immediatly started melafix, then got in touch w/ the place where I buy my fish and they got me hooked up w/ an antibiotic treatment.... between that and water changes he was spunky in no time... he didn't stop eating or swiming around the whole time he was sick so I think that I acted fast on his case.

The blue zebra seem to be a female Kenyi/M. Lombardoi...which are highly aggressive as are the Bumblebees/M.Crabro. You may have to separate these two or sell them.
Pretty fishies!

We def know that the blue zebra is a blue zebra not a female kenyi.... the bumblebee is a new addition and is in "someone elses place" so is not agressive at all... they are all schooling together....
when we got the blue zebra he was in w/ the zebra cichlids and is a bright blue coloration of the red zebra cichlids. (we asked the same question when we bought him)

Here's some profiles for you to check out...this site is most accurate. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/article...us_gallery.php

When your fish mature you will see who are the aggressive types are going to be...things are always fine until they are adults.
I have yet to see blue zebra look like that with those type of bars. You should go thru the profiles.
I have Ad Konings Malawi Cichlids 3rd edition In their Natural Habitat book....there a lot of species which look closely alike. It's called the Malawi bible for iding fish.

I have to agree with you all now after my fish man husband who spent 4 years in college studing enviromental science with classes in iding species of fish, reptiles, etc.... he came over to the comp and we looked closely together at the blue guy and well came to an agreement that you were correct...its a female kenyi... which surprised me!
