OK, so I'm beginning to think I might have gotten a little carried away here, which is easy to do. Would any of you say I have to many fish for that tank, cause I'm all paranoid now that my fish are uncomfortable!!!

My girlfriends son has also gotten into aquariums and I promised to give him my old 29 gal. and if you guys think I should get rid of some of my fish, he may be getting a few free fish. Let me know what you all think or if you think I'll be fine as I am. Again, here's the list of what I have stocked:

1x Red Turquoise Discus
6x Zebra Danios (I've already decided to get rid of these b/c of the Discus)
1x Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami
6x Asst. Fancy Guppies
2x Lyretail Mollies
1x Platty
4x Swords
2x Boesmani Rainbows
1x Praecox Rainbow
1x Threadfin Rainbow
5x Neon Tetras
1x L018 Pleco

So, if I were to get rid of the Danios and Neons, would that be more acceptable? All opinions welcome. I will be getting a 10 gal. in return for the 29 gal, but I have no room to set it up.

HA! My Marigold Sword has started dropping her fry!!!!!! I came hope from classes today to find her being really lethargic and just kind of floating near the top of the tank. Today is my water change day, so before I started, I gently scooped her into my breeding cage so as not to overly stress her while I did my cleaning. By the time I was done, there was one little tiny guy/girl floating on the bottom of the breeder!!!! Hope there are more on the way!!

Shake; (awesome name BTW) if I were you and had an empty 29 gallon waiting around, I would move all the live-bearers (guppies, mollies, platys, and swords) there and leave the rest in your big tank. This would make for a beautiful and colorful live-bearer tank, and an awesome rainbow/discus tank.

bert2001 -- I totally agree...I just wish I had the room to do it. Being a college student still living at home (I live very close to Purdue...why waste money...) I just don't have the room to Have both the 55 and 29 up at the same time. However, I'm planning some rearranging soon, and it may be possible.

I would LOVE!!!! to have 1 or even 2 more Discus. I've always wanted a pigeon blood or blue diamond. I may have to find a way to make this work because it is getting me all pumped up to have an even more beautiful tank!!!!!

As for an update on the sword fry. After dropping more than 40 fry, including a couple that looked albino?!?! and at least one that had a siameese(sp?) twin, I released mama sword back into the tank. I was away from the tank for a couple hours and when I returned, she was dead. Of the 40 fry, it seems that only about 6 or 7 are still alive. We will have to see what happens in the coming days.

It's a Sony Cybershot 7.2 Megapixel. Now, LOL, keep in mind I had to take about 500 pics just to get those few you see. But, I love taking pictures of my tank, so it's worth it

Beautiful tank! I work at a fish store and I have heard of that sort of practice where the fish are bred to handle "tap water" from juveniles. I've been told (but I think there may be weakened immunity and maybe other consequences as a whole, need more research) that most fish coming from your whole salers and many breeders are kept at tap water conditions even if thier requirements are lower or higher. I believe this is because most fish tanks in fish stores are on one system (makes life easier) and people who dont know any better have better survival. Little rambling for you Do take that to the bank and cash it, just sharing my two cents.

Yeah, I used to work at a walmart as their official B**ch, and had to handle Sporting Goods, Mixing paint, care of the fish and Electronics on a nightly basis. Their tank were all on one really cool system. I never get my fish from there, however, because their tanks are absolutely disgusting!!!!More dead fish on the filters than swimming in the tank.

My Discus seems extremely happy in his new home!!!!
