45 Stand finally done can't wait to plant.

Here's the 45 I'm putting together. I got one coat of stain on today and couldn't resist a picture when it was dry enough. Gonna put one more coat on. Substrate, light, and plants and I'll be good to go.

Nice job. What color are you planning on?... I wonder... Would a stand for a 100+G tank (which would end up weighing over half a ton depending on size) need metal frame?

Aahhh ... I love the sight of an empty tank, all ready to be meddled with ! You'll have so much fun setting it up and planting it! Good luck! Post some pics when it's all done .

BTW, what lighting will you have and what plants? Regular gravel or some nutrient-rich substrate, or perhaps plant tabs?

bhcaaron- My 150G FW stand is made from less wood than the 45 stand I built. I bought the 150 stand. This 45 stand is Aspen with a Honey stain. The color you see in the photo is basically the color. It'll darken up with the second coat I put on after work today. (Yes I'm at work SHHHHH)

COBettaCouple- This tank will be home to a pair of Gold Gouramis. I'm hoping they might start to feel the love if you know what I mean. They've been in a 20G for long enough. Time to up grade.

Isabella- I'm going with 78W 1X39 10000k white, and 1X39 "freshwater" pink light. I'd have to look up the link. It's a Nova Extreme something or other. I'll have about 1.75W per Gallon. I'll be using Flourite substrate with a little bit of the gravel from the 20G I have the Gouramis in now.

It looks great. I know for my stand, my dad and I used cedar and it is nice and strong and solid. Now, my only question is, are you putting casters underneath so if need be, you can move it without lots of hassle? How big is the decoration of Poisiden/Neptune?

I have seriously considered casters. I will be using them on the stand I'm building for my 55 reef. It would be SO convenient.

The Neptune statue is about 14 to 16 inches tall. The Lost City theme. I actually purchased a REALLY cool "Lost City" building but misread the size when I ordered it. I thought it said 13X8 but it was 13X18. It's gonna go in my 150. It won't fit in the 45. I hope to pick up another statue or some "broken" collums to match the Neptune. I also have a few pieces of cut Marble I'm thinking I may try to incorporate. I do have a 6in "Royal" Seahorse statue I may use. I got it to go with the building that doesn't fit.

What are casters? And I still don't exactly understand the watts per gallon. Do you basically add up all the watts per bulb and divide by gallons?

Casters = wheels like on a rolly chair.

Watts per Gallon = Total light wattage\number of gallons You got it.

I looked through a current PennPlax catalog (Where I found the HUGE piece) and a good lot of K&A too. I need to go back and look again since the one doesn't fit. I kinda put the others out of my mind when I ordered lol.
