Thanks guys...I love my new set up. I think kribs are my favorite dwarf cichlids.
Yes that is amazon swords, java fern which is a mother plant, the other ones I have to look up. We got them free so we don't know what they are...researching them now.

Hi Allie
Are you using anything special to keep your plants looking so great and healthy?

They came from our 120g which was started with plant chemicals and a co2 injector...oh yeah and lots of light.

ahhhhh no wonder they are so beautiful! My 55g tank only has two 15w lights so no wonder my amazon swords do not do too well.
I have a box of Jungle Lab "tank buddies" Plant Care Fizz Tablets. I have been nervous about putting an chemicals into the discus tank and so havent used it yet. It says to add 1 tablet to each ten gal water so that would mean like 5.5 tabs a week! Im just not sure this is a good thing for my fish to do this. What is your opinion on this? Do you think I can use that much? Or maybe for two small amazon swords I can use less? And can you recommend a tank light that is not too expensive but would give me the right light for low-medium light plants?
for your help!

To be honest with you I know nothing about plants. My boyfriend does all the work. He just said the chemicals have nothing to do with it. It's all in the lighting , Co2 and care (triming)...2.5 watts per gallon for the best lighting. One warning...you'll get lots of algae with all the extra light but it eventually goes away with lots of daily attention.

Well your BF is doing a fantastic job with those plants! So I see I would need alot of wattage lights to maintain such beautiful plants. Well guess I will put it on the to do list at some point!

ok the stuff to the right is called Alternanthera reineckii, the stringy stuff to the left is dying...so it's going back to the 120g.
