Yeah, I've found that with corys. They're either totally madly dashing around the place, or completely immobile (until you get the camera, then they're off running again).

Crazy little guys! But hey, I do love that they are active!

Wow, he's a patient man trying to recognize them all, or you mean they all have the same name?

Well i lost one of the spotted cories today. I dont know what happened, it was pretty sluggish from the time I brought them home on thursday. Usually the corys are all over the place, but not one out of the pair. Today it was breathing heavy, and then it was laying under the bubble wand. The water perimeters are fantastic, the tank is very clean, since the GBR's need that pristine water conditions, so I dont know what was wrong with it. I just never seem to have much luck with cories. So now its just the lone spotted cory with three GB rams in that 29g tank. Will it be ok by itself?

Sorry to hear about your cory Kate !!
Its so fustrating to lose a fish for no apparent reason. However, it does happen alot. I bought 2 giant corydora a few weeks ago, and the next day, dead! I guess they were either at the end of their lifespan, or they were ill at the store, in which case you hope and pray your tank dosent fall victim to whatever it is they have (which one of my tanks did recently - I lost 4 fish...) I even overheard the store owner complaining on the phone that she herself lost alot of fish and had to use a commercial treatment for her system... talk about not going back to that store any time soon)...
anyway... I guess you never know, and even though your tank is in tip-top shape, sometimes they just dont make it.
I hope your other cory fares better!

I initially bought two, then added a third about a month later. Within 2-3 weeks, one of the two originals died, but the other one and the new-comer have been going strong ever since. So yea, it may not have been well to begin with, or just didn't adjust to its new home.

Sorry that you lost one.
I recently bought 2 spotted cories to go with my 2 panda cories that i've had since feb. One died a few days later, and the second died about a month after I got it. I've tried on several occasions to get new cories to add to the 2 pandas, and every time they don't last very long. But my panda cories are still going strong. Maybe its the kind of cory, maybe some adjust better than others?

thanks for the replies, fellow cory owners. Im sorry to hear that you also have had unknown losses as well. I guess these little guys are more sensitive than they appear. I will try again to add a few more for the lone one left in the tank and see what happens.

Beautiful Panda Cories Kate!!.. I once had one, along with a pair of albinos and a normal Golden Cory.. they all got along famously with each other and were in great health until I lost them during a bad Ich outbreak, and treated them with medication that was too strong .. I've since learned where I went wrong but have opted to try Loaches and Catfish instead.. but if any of my LFS were to get back Pandas, I'd snag them quicker than a cold beer on a hot day!

Panda Cories do seem to be in short supply at the fish stores.

On the ID of these little guys.. not sure they are pandas.
The reason being, I notice that the pandas have two stripes one on the face and another one on the body.Plus the panda's do not have spots on the body as these guys do.
Tho I have seen photos of spotted cories and none of them have the face mask like my lil guys. The LFS had them down as spotted cories.. or maybe a leopard cory?
So on that note.. not too sure what to call them, spotted? or Panda?
I have been trying to get another photo, but this lil guy is pretty illusive and hides in the back of the tank. But once I get a better photo, maybe we can ID him/her better?

Hi Butterfly
Thank you for the link.. I checked them out, and my cory is not a panda. I have added two photos that I was just able to take a few minutes ago. I do believe my guy is a Spotted corydoras "Brevirostris".
What do you think?

Hi Kevin
there are about three maybe four different variety of the spotted corys. Yours is also in the list that butterfly gave in her post. If you check that link out Im sure that you will find yours there as well.
