Yer you must be stoked with your tank, i am also setting up my first tank and have just bought an ornament over eBay, after seeing your terracotta pots i think this is an awesome option for further hiding places for smaller fish.

Super job, especially on a first tank! How long does it take your 'slow risers' to wake up? we wait about 30 min at least before the morning feeding after turning on the lights.

A minimum of 20 minutes for Firemouth to rise and Dwarf Gouramis are ready a bit more quickly than this, it is just I leave for work early in morning but I just get up earlier.

not a morning fish.

sounds like if fish had alarm clocks, he'd be the one to hit the snooze button.

LoL

I have been looking at cockatoo or blue ram cichlids as next fish but will wait until October now, can't really add too many more fish now so have to be choosy.

Cichlids do interest me a lot.

Yea i went from tropical to malawi cichlids, nothing wrong with tropicals
but cichlids are a lot more entertaining, and i kinda like their bad tempers.
