Yea it is! Its been discontinued now tho. When i got mine it was the only one they had left and it was the display tank. They were planning on just getting rid of it so i got it really cheap with some free stuff as well. 1 problem as well is that because its discontinued, they don't make the sponges that fit the filter any more, so i have to buy the bigger ones and cut them in half!

Don't worry i'm already there! Thinking of getting a new tank. I saw one in my lfs the other day. looks good, not to big not to small. It's a 120 litres which according to the calculator here on fishloreits 31.7gallons so lets just call it 32. Tanks and stuff are expensive over here. I reckon i have spent just over ?500 in the 10 months since staring fish keeping and i have kept to buying as cheap as possible, oh and that doesn't include the cost of the fish. It's an expensive hobby!

Like I said, that's why I went for the DIY option! My entire setup cost around 2000, for all 15 tanks, stands, heaters, filters and everything! If I had bought them from a shop, they would have cost nearly 5 times that! It would have also been impossible to obtain either the overall look or the number of tanks any other way. The shop-bought units are designed as stand-alones, not the effect I wanted, and because of their design, waste a lot of space.

I started with standard tanks, but have always built my own stands. Now I build the lot, including the tanks, since I can get a much neater job that fits where I want it to, rather than having to make a space to suit the unit.

well i have a 50 gallon that has no hood or stand so i intend to follow your lead one day as i love diy and making stuff. So your magazine articles are great for me. May pick your brains when the time comes if that ok?!?!

No problem! Hopefully over the coming months we will be able to put more articles for the DIY enthusiast in the magazine from others as well, where they will become a sort of reference library for projects covering most areas.

Dave it is a good job the tanks are expensive! Imagine this house??!! I only moved back to the folks after split with ex to give me time to decide next step, since i have filled house with tanks.Still have more to come but imagine if tanks were cheap!!! It would be a zoo/aquarium!! Bliss
