Re: New Fish Tank Pics!

i dont think getting a female dwarf gourami was a good idea, all the male does is chase her around whenever she gets to close! here are a couple new pics.

Re: New Fish Tank Pics!

Is she the same Dwarf Gourami kind as he is? Are you sure you bought a female? Does he physically hurt her? It may take a few days before they get used to each other.

Re: New Fish Tank Pics!

From most of the reading I have done, as well as from what I've been hearing around the forum, a male and female Gourami of the same kind SHOULD be tolerant of each other. I am sorry if I have given you the wrong advice but it seemed to me that all should be well with a male and female Gourami of the same kind. If you want, you can always return the female back to the store.

So you're not sure if it's a female Dwarf Gourami of the same kind as the male?

Re: New Fish Tank Pics!

Then I guess it is the same kind. Is her body pattern/coloration the same as that of your male's? Females are usually less colorful though.

Anyway, how are they both doing now?

Maybe it is the same female kind, only just without a developed color yet? Though she should show at least some color. I've seen young male and female Dwarf Gouramis at my LFS and while the females weren't as colorful as males were, they did have some color visible on them.

I am glad to hear the male is more peaceful towards the female. Maybe they'll be all right?

Re: New Fish Tank Pics!

Like I said, this is strange, because a male and a female of the same species and of the same variety in one tank, usually will pair. Sorry yours didn't Maybe they will though. Maybe they just need more time? I wish you best of luck. Still, if you're not happy, you can always return the female to your LFS.
