Red Bellied Pacu---teeth????

Hello, hope someone can answer my question. I love my pacu and everyday I pay good attention to my aquarium and fish but I just noticed something weird. Literally overnight it looks like he grew a tooth!!! He has what looks like one big tooth on the bottom jaw! I had seen its row of little teeth on the top but had never seen anything on the bottom. Does anyone know if this is normal? Do they grow big teeth like that?

My pacu had some pretty large teeth on the bottom. He almost looked like a bulldog with his underbite!! When he was about 9 inches, my son got ahold of some peanuts and put one in his tank. I don'tthink I had ever seen him (the pacu) so happy. From then on he got a few peanuts once a week (unsalted) for a treat.

Welcome to Fishlore, Azure1981

Pacus are carnivores and they have teeth. From my understanding, those teeth are sharp

Are you upgrading him to a larger tank soon?

EDIT: They aren't carnivores, they're herbivores, but they do have teeth. I apologize, I was thinking about the pirhana.

Be careful with your hand! I would imagine they would grow teeth as what BB stated. Make sure to feed them!
