The new tank is stocked!

So, the boyfriend and I have our tank full of plants, a nice fake craggy stump, and a really cool lace rock. New 29 gallon "kit" tank.

Well, we've got a good handful of fish in the tank now:

pair of black mollies
pair of red wag platties
2 female bettas (Skye & Violita)
1 male crowntail (Finley)
and 2 babies I brought home from work: another red wag platty and a red-tailed black variatus

The mollies and platties were our starters. We've tested the water, and everything is perfect. The female bettas went in together, and they actually don't interact much at all. They've swum right past each other several times, with no bad confrontation. Now, adding Finley made it interesting. We let the females in earlier to make sure they could scope out any hiding places they might need. Finley is actually flaring at anything that moves! He hasn't made any attempt to bite anyone yet, and even the other fish started to realise that he's just being a big show-off. And boy is he nuts about the girls. Really puts on a show for them. But he doesn't chase them nearly as much as the other fish when they turn away. Things seem to be settling down, so I think for now it's working out OK.

Re: The new tank is stocked!

If I am reading this right you are planning on putting finley in with the females? If this is true you might want to reconsider. Males bettas can only be put with the females when they are ready to breed and even then they can kill each other or even badly hurt one antoher... I would wait on adding finley until you talk to chickadee or one of the others. Males bettas can be very mean and kill your fish... Just a suggestion..
