Well, I woke up this morning to see my poor snail caught on the sucking part of my filter! My mom took him and the filter tube to the sink. Half of him was in his shell, the other half cuaght in the filter tube. She pried most of him out, then about 1/10 of an inch wide and about an inch long of him still stuck. With this, she sterylized(Sorry for the spelling) some safety scissors and cut it off! Please, was this the right idea, will he get an infection, will he die, or should we move him or treat him?

I'm sorry about your snail.
It might have been a better idea to put the snail and the intake in the tank to see if he could free himself once he was released from the suction of the filter. Not sure if that would have helped.

Keep him in some nice clean warm water to try to prevent infection.

R.I.P. Ozzy Ozboure, the snail. Never mind, he died. Well, he's with a few of my other fish up there.

Hate to hear that you've lost some snails. Sometimes things happen that is just beyond our control.

Now I'm confused! I went to bed last night to wake up to my snail sleeping next to my pleco in an completely different spot! He was rocking back and forth and looking alive, and then he was just, well, dead-looking. So I don't know. The pleco has been sticking around him, like they're best friends. I have a tiny little snail about 1/4 of an inch, and by accident, he was stuck in my log when i took it out to scrub it. I'll keep you posted.

No, it's a little snail we named Junior. I have had 3 snails. First, we got Harry. Next, we got Ozzy. Harry died. We got Junior.
