yes ich is contagious but treatable. They say you can treat it just by raising temp but I would also used ich med. Don't know about moving him into another tank cause i would probably want to treat the tank he(GBR) he came from.

Be careful choosing ICH meds. Some can destroy your good bio matter and send your ammonia and nitrites through the roof. By raising the temps to 85 should be enough. ICH cannot survive in temps over 82. Keep the temp there for 2 weeks. Do a good gravel vacuum after the two weeks as ICH spores fall off the fish and into the gravel or substrate. Since one fish has it chances are that the rest of the fish will contract it as well. Sorry to hear your having problems.

I used ick-attack by KORDON ORGANICS. It's so safe it can be used on scaleless fish, live rock, plants ect...It worked on a pictus, loaches, gouramis and a shark(rb). So i know its gentle.Bio safe as well. I'd try this one.

I had a horrible Ich outbreak in my new 55 (since all the stock was new). The only thing I have done is kept the water pristine and raised the temperature to 82 ish for about a week. Guess what? the ich is almost gone.

Do water changes diligently, vacuum, vacuum, vacuum, and raise the temperature. There will be no need to use meds in that case, which will only be harsh on the fish and maybe risk your biological filter.
