| My jacks Hi all,
i got a question .... my jack dempseys are starting to get very aggressive towards the other fish in the tank ... is there a reason for this ..... the water temp is 78 |

| jacks are generally aggressive towards other males of the same species, and are aggressive/territorial when breeding, so that maybe why, the temp will not effect them as they are quite tollerant of a range of temps Last edited by krismoore888; March 2nd, 2009 at 12:46 PM.

| JD's are a generally aggressive species. Since they are in a tank with other aggressive species, there is a chance that there will be fights.
It may also be that they have paired off & are going to breed. |

| I agree its normal for dempseys....but the fish you have should be able to hold their own...providing a cave like structure if they are a male/female combo, will give them a place to spawn and call their own |

| They're most likely a breeding pair then. |

I agree with ben...the two are a pair !! see the differences of their gill plate coloring and the under belly area? males are more drab underneath but more speckled on their body.... |
