Flower pot with dirt. OK for fish?

I got a flowerpot out of my backyard and want to use it as a hiding place for my fish. I scrubbed it mostly completely off using warm water and a sponge but there is still at little dirt on it. Is this a bad thing? Can I use it or no?

Why don't you just clean the rest of the dirt off?

I did the same thing with a flower pot that I had just setting around. I cleaned it very well and then boiled it to be sure it was good and clean, it still has a little staining on it from the dirt but after boiling it like I did I haven't had any problems with my water parameters changing at all. So just clean it really good and boil it and you should be ok

There could be a pesticide or fertiziler that has leeched into the cracks so boiling it is how properlly clean it, i woul soak it in bleach for about 30 min then boil it.
I soaked all of my limestone in bleach for 30 min prior to bleaching.
