| i agree with what everyone is saying here, dont mix the betta with your community tank........More than likely your betta will end up dead.......The gouramis together COULD work but not in a 20 gallon......I have a blue and a gold (both males) in a 90 gallon, but i have it very heavily planted and some floating plants on the surface.........The gouramis actually hang out together......Sometimes one will chase the other away, but for the most part the aggression is non-existant......There has never been fins torn or any injuries.........I'm rather sure its the size of the tank and all the cover that allows this to go on..........Anything smaller, i think your gonna have problems.........Plese dont take this personally, but there is alot of research that needs to be done before you start filling a cycled tank with fish.......I know not everyone can have a back-up tank to put the aggressor or the victim in, but i always have a back-up tank in case there are issues with aggression........This same community tank has a african cichlid (Johanni mutt) that in reality should tear all his other tank mates apart, but he is a model fish.....Gave him plenty of rock caves to hang out in, but he chooses to stay in the mid-water column...........Sometimes you never know how certain fish will react to certain situations, thats why having a second alternative is always a good choice. |
