Fish Personalities...
I have a few questions about fish in general. I don't know if it varies from different types or anything but...
1. Do fish flirt?
2. Can they have different personalities?(I know they all act different, but how specific does it get?)
3. Are some actually smarter than others?
4. Are they intelectual?
I always sit in front of my fish tank and watch them swim around and chase each other, and wonder what they're really doing...

Wow, that's really cool. I didn't know they flirt with each other. So that means I'm probably right in saying that one of my males is a real "player". He really "loves the ladies". Everytime I go to the tank, he's always swimming with one of the females, except Mango. Mango chases him off then goes back to whatever she was doing. It's rather entertaining really. When he swims with the females at the top of the tank, Tucker(the other male) comes up to see what's happening, then Chester(male with all the 'ladies') chases him down! He must be trying to tell Tucker to stay away from his females.
What about your fish(es)? Do they have any "quirks" about them.

Male guppies are quite the little romeos and male endlers are almost as bad. They have so many ways of 'flirting' from species to species.
We've had all kinds of personalities in our fish, especially our Bettas. It's amazing how unique and different they are. Fish can learn tricks, remember things, tell the difference between people - they really have a good amount of intelligence. I've found Bettas to be the smartest, followed by Angels of the fish we've owned, but they've all shown abilities to learn and remember.

1, Yes! You should see the male seahorse flirt with the female, he changes colour and fills his pouch with water to make it look big trying to impress the female to give him her eggs.
2, Yes
3, Yes
4, Yes

Hmm, now Chester is almost nipping at Tucker's tail when he shooshes him away. And Tucker is still recovering from some other injury he got when he was still at the store.(It's not bleeding, and wasnt when we got him, just sort of missing a little bit out of his tail) When I got him he looked like another fish was attacking part of his tail, and now Chester seems to be doing the same. Should I remove Chester or Tucker for a while? They're both platies so I don't think its territorial, and theres 5 females so it wouldn't be that...
I just looked over and he's chasing away both the sunset platies, one male one female. Why would he be doing this? He doesn't chase away the Red Wagtail Platies or the other Painted platy.

It sounds like they're establishing a pecking order, but if one is a bully then it may be good to take him out for a while and change the tank decor around while he's out, then re-acclimate him back in.

You can give him a time out.. maybe in a breeder net? You just want the tank to look different to him but don't want him to sit too long in water that will slowly get cold. Hopefully, the change in scenery will alter his spot in the pecking order enough to get him to behave better. Some fish respond to this, some don't.

Yes to all of those questions. I find that most fish I have show different personalities.
Have you ever seen an African cichlid male in breeding mode? Now that is an aggressive flirt.
I just got some platys myself and are noticing they have personalities too.
